Free QR code generator.

Make a QR code for any link or text, then download it as PNG or SVG. No sign-up, no watermark, and it’s drawn right in your browser.

Make your QR code

A scannable code in three steps

  1. 1
    Paste your link

Shorten it first for bigger squares and click counts.

  2. 2
    Adjust if needed

Dark code on a light background; more error correction for rough surfaces.

  3. 3
    Download and test

SVG for print, PNG for screens. Scan a test print at its real size.

Type or paste a link. The code updates as you type.

Shorten it first?

A zou.sh link makes a simpler code and counts scans as clicks.

FAQ

QR code questions.

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. There’s no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on downloads. The code is drawn in your browser, so what you type isn’t sent to us unless you choose to shorten the link first.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. A QR code is just your text or link drawn as squares, so it never expires on its own. It keeps working as long as the link inside it works, and zou.sh links never expire.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

Use SVG for print and design tools: it stays sharp at any size. Use PNG for places that only accept images, such as some social networks and slide tools, and pick a size at least as large as the final print.

Why shorten a link before making a QR code?

A shorter link needs fewer squares, so each square is bigger at the same print size and easier to scan. A zou.sh link also counts each scan as a click, visible on its + preview page.

Which error correction level should I choose?

M (about 15% recovery) suits most uses. Choose Q or H if the code may get scratched or dirty, or if you plan to place a small logo over it. Higher levels make the code denser.

Can I change the colors?

Yes, but keep a dark code on a light background with strong contrast. Many phone cameras fail on inverted (light on dark) or low-contrast codes, so the tool warns you when contrast is too low.
