Link management

Early access

Change where a link goes, after you share it.

Fix a typo, swap a landing page or end a promotion, while the short link and its QR code stay the same. These controls come with accounts, now in early access.

How it will work

How editing short links will work

  1. 1

    Shorten while signed in

Links you create with your account belong to you. That ownership is what makes them editable.

  2. 2

    Edit, expire or limit

Open a link to change its destination, give it an expiry date or cap its number of clicks.

  3. 3

    Keep the same link

The short link, its QR code and every post that shares it stay as they are. A new destination applies from the next click.

Why it helps

What you’ll control with an account

All of this comes with accounts, in early access. Editing destinations is part of the free account; expiry dates and click limits come with Pro.

  • Early access

    Edit the destination

Point a link to a new page without changing the short link. Fix a typo, or move a campaign to its next landing page.

  • Early access

    Expiry dates

Give a link an end date, for a sale that ends on Sunday or a registration form that closes at midnight.

  • Early access

    Click limits

Cap how many clicks a link accepts, like zou.sh/workshop for a class with a fixed number of seats.

  • Early access

All your links in one place

See the links you created with your account together, instead of digging through old chats and spreadsheets.

  • Early access

    Printed codes stay useful

A QR code holds the short link, not the destination. Edit the link, and the code on your posters leads to the new page.

  • Early access

    Built for teams

Team adds shared workspaces, roles and permissions, and an audit log for the people who manage your links.

Why accounts

Why links without an account can’t be edited

A link made without an account stores only its destination, its code, its creation time and how it was made. Nothing ties it to a person, so no one can claim it, and no one can repoint it.

  • It always points to the URL you shortened
  • Nobody can change it, not even you
  • That is why it’s permanent: no edits, no expiry
  • Wrong URL? Shorten the right one and share the new link

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can I change where a short link points?

Yes, with an account, which is in early access. Links created without an account can’t be edited: they always point to the URL you shortened.

Why can’t I edit a link I made without an account?

Because nothing ties the link to you: we store no account and no IP address with it. Since nobody can prove a link is theirs, nobody can repoint it, which also keeps it from being hijacked.

Will links I create today keep working?

Yes. Links created without an account never expire and keep pointing to the URL you shortened.

What happens to a printed QR code when I edit the link?

Nothing changes on paper. The code holds the short link, so once you edit its destination with an account, every new scan goes to the new page.

Which plan do I need for expiry dates and click limits?

Pro, in early access, at $9 a month billed yearly or $12 month-to-month. Editing destinations is included in the free account, and the pricing page compares every plan.

When will accounts be available?

There is no public date yet. Join the early access list and you’ll get an email when accounts open.
