For AI agents

Short links your AI agents can create and check.

Blinkhop is a link shortener your agents can use on their own, through a remote MCP server or the REST API. They turn long URLs into clean zou.sh links for replies, emails, posts and texts.

The problem

Where links trip agents up

  • 01

    Long URLs swamp the message

Tracking parameters and deep paths turn a two-line chat reply into a wall of characters, and text messages or social posts have no room to spare.

  • 02

    Sign-ups and captchas block agents

Captchas and sign-up forms are built to keep automated clients out, and API keys pasted into prompts can leak. An agent hits that wall on its first call.

  • 03

Nobody can see where it leads

An opaque link in a generated message asks people to trust it blindly. Unless the agent can look up the destination, it can’t vouch for the link either.

How it fits

How agents work with Blinkhop

One URL for assistants that speak MCP, one endpoint for everything else.

  1. Step 1

    Connect the MCP server

Add https://mcp.blinkhop.com/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf. It’s a remote server: nothing to install, no account, no key.

  2. Step 2

    Ask in plain words

“Shorten every link in this draft” is enough. The agent calls shorten_link for one URL or shorten_links for up to 50, then writes the links back in.

  3. Step 3

    Check before sharing

With expand_link, the agent sees where a zou.sh link goes, when it was created and how many clicks it has, before it passes the link on.

  4. Step 4

    Or call the REST API

Custom agents can expose POST /v1/links as a function. Success and failure both come back as JSON, with error codes like alias_taken a model can act on.

Use cases

What agents do with a link shortener

  • Support replies

A support agent answers a ticket with a short link to the exact help article, instead of a URL that wraps across three lines of the chat window.

    zou.sh/reset-password
  • Newsletter drafts

Paste a draft into your assistant and ask it to shorten every link. The same text comes back with clean zou.sh links in place of the long ones.

    zou.sh/oct-digest
  • Text message updates

An agent that texts event updates links to the schedule or the venue map with a five-character code, leaving room for the message itself.

    zou.sh/7Kp2x
  • Release notes

A coding agent in your editor shortens links to the docs, the changelog and the migration guide while it drafts the release notes.

    zou.sh/v3-notes
  • Research with sources

Before citing a short link it found, an agent expands it to see the real destination. The API’s /expand endpoint follows other shorteners’ links too.

  • Scheduled automations

A nightly job that posts a digest to your team chat shortens each link through the API. Any tool that can send an HTTP request can do the same.

Get started

One URL, any MCP client

The server uses the Streamable HTTP transport at https://mcp.blinkhop.com/mcp. Claude Code needs one command and Cursor one JSON entry. Claude, ChatGPT, VS Code and Windsurf take the same URL in their own settings or config files.

terminal

claude mcp add --transport http blinkhop https://mcp.blinkhop.com/mcp

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can my agent use Blinkhop without an account?

Yes. The MCP server and the REST API need no account or key, and no captcha or bot wall stands in front of them, even for agents on cloud servers or VPNs. The MCP server allows 120 calls per minute and 5,000 per day per IP address.

Which AI assistants can connect?

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, including Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT in developer mode, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf. The setup guide has the steps for each one.

What if my agent shortens the same URL twice?

It gets the same link back. Without a custom ending, an already shortened URL returns its existing zou.sh link, so retries don’t create duplicates or split the click count.

Does Blinkhop see my conversations?

No. The MCP server only receives what your assistant sends in a tool call, such as the URL to shorten, never the rest of the chat.

Can an agent check a link it didn’t create?

Yes. expand_link covers zou.sh links, and the API’s GET /expand follows any short link for up to 10 redirects, then returns the final destination with a safety verdict.

How does an agent learn the API?

Point it at llms.txt, an index of our docs written for language models, or generate function definitions from the OpenAPI 3.1 spec.
